When is the worst time to go to Disneyland?
Well, according to the article that we’ve read just before we went, the absolutely worst time to go (around the days we were going) was on:
- The entire week of Christmas (basically up until New Years)
- Saturday
and when did we go?
December 28, the week of Christmas… on a Saturday.
WHOOPS
LA Shoutout:
Before I start talking about Disneyland, I just wanted to give an LA Shoutout (since we were only in LA for less than 2 days, and we spent the entire day in Disneyland) to the Cheesecake Factory! The pasta I had was delicious and to die for, and no pasta could ever amount to what I just had there. And the cheesecake – that deserves its own post… it was to die for as well, like I LOVED it. I didn’t eat a proper cheesecake for a while after I had that one (I love the Woolworths one in Australia, and the cheesecakes they have are good, but after having the one in Cheesecake factory, it ruined it for me).
Okay now moving on to what this post is really about, it’s about our day in Disneyland.
The time when we went to Disneyland was absolutely the worst time to go.
Not only was it because we went during the worst time to go, Disneyland also just opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and it made it even much worse.
It took us a while to get our car into the Disneyland car park, and it took us even longer to get into the Disneyland park. And we were so lucky that we got in when we did because… well, let me just let these speak for itself.
If you’re not bothered to read it – basically, Disneyland closed its doors and stopped selling tickets because it reached maximum capacity (yeah I just basically copied the title because it literally just explained for itself). No one could get in anymore, and there were SO MANY people. It was so hard to walk around and it’s practically impossible to not bump into someone. I’ve been to Disneyland a lot of times already, but I’ve never seen it this crowded before…
Because of that long line to get into the park, we were very hungry, so we ate breakfast at the same place we ate last year. I had Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes this time, which screams “We’re at Disneyland!” If only they had something that screamed “We’re at Disneyland and it’s so crowded….”
And let me just say, taking a photo in front of the castle was a bit of a nightmare. Yes, it was crowded, and it’s a miracle that I got this shot with hardly any people in it…
And also, it’s practically impossible to not have photobombers in your photos, but at least you get one right? Evidence that you’re actually at Disneyland and you’re not just using someone else’s photos?
And yeah, even lines for rides were long. Usually, a 120 minute long wait would be a … well, long wait. BUT this time round, when Disneyland reached its maximum capacity, it’s the shortest wait you can get. The only way to short cut through it is if you get a Fast Pass, but that runs out right away as well.
If there’s anything that Disneyland should have, that’s at least a GPS that can just show us where to go (I have a feeling they’ve always had it, and I never knew it, so I may look like an idiot for writing that). But nevertheless, it’s hard to use the park map and find the place when you’re always bumping into people.
And in the photo below, it’s an unintentional photo – I was genuinely looking at the map to find our way to go to our next ride…
Like I said earlier, one of the other reasons why the park was crowded, aside from it being Saturday and on the week of Christmas, it was because they recently opened the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. They had no fast pass for the ride, and and time for wait of the ride was LONG, the number killed.
Miraculously, we were able to get to ride it, without having to wait that long… and it was fun. Was it worth the wait? Yes sure.
Since I don’t remember how many rides we rode, it must have been a significant number of rides. There were some rides that we couldn’t go on, but that was okay – I was happy to get to go to Disneyland anyway.
I did spend some time just resting on “seats” with a Starbucks coffee. If you’re someone who hardly has people start conversations with you, all you do is go to Disneyland and hold a Starbucks cup, everyone will ask you where you get it, and then you give them the directions, and hope and pray you led them to the right direction, but at the same time also don’t care if you led them to the wrong place because you’re never going to see them again right?
And that wraps up my post of my day at Disneyland – the worst time to go to Disneyland, but nevertheless a very fun and interesting experience. Our family learnt our lesson which is to plan our days at Disneyland better.
As always, I always keep my promises, and one of my promises is to come back again (when it’s less crowded this time!)
Bye for now!!
