What is a Reset Routine?
There are many types of routines that are essential to your personal growth. A reset routine is a name in itself, it’s a routine where you reset!
The types of reset routines include:
- Weekly Reset Routine
- Monthly Reset Routine
- Quarterly Reset Routine
- Yearly Reset Routine
Why is a reset routine important?
One way or another, you’ve probably experienced how challenging the demands of life can be, and how it can be easy to forget to simply pause, reflect, and make changes. Without a reset routine, we risk falling into a cycle where we keep doing the same thing repeatedly, without realizing that it’s not moving us closer to where we want to be.
That’s why, implementing a reset routine such as a weekly and monthly routine can reap many benefits such as increased productivity, better mental clarity, and enhanced your overall well-being.

How to Create a Reset Routine
Routines are pretty much a combination of habits and steps to help you achieve a goal.
With a reset routine, it combines a number of steps to help you achieve the goal of setting yourself up for a great week/month/quarter/year ahead.
Even though there are multiple recommended steps for you to take in every routine, each reset routine is personalized to you, based on your life circumstances and situation. Nevertheless, it’s always important to find new ways to improve your current reset routines.
The next section will outline each of these reset routines. You’ll be able to read about each reset routine in depth through its individual blog posts.

Quarter Reset Routine
This is a routine to reset your QUARTER! A quarter is every 3 months, and the end of the quarters (and the best time to do this routine) are March, June, September, and December. You can click here to read about this routine in depth. Here is a summary of the steps:
- Rate your life domains – On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest), rate these domains:
- Physical & Fitness
- Emotional & Mental Health
- Faith
- Intellectual
- Social
- Career
- Avocational (fun & hobbies)
- Finance
2. Highs & Lows – Your highs and lows for the quarter.
3. Mini-Goals for Each Life Domain – Write down at least one goal you want to achieve in each life domain, even if it’s a small goal. It doesn’t have to be a big goal, as long as it’s something that can help you improve in that domain in some way.
4. Create Focuses – This refers to what you want to focus more on this quarter (e.g. more consistency in habits, building a new project, etc).

Yearly Reset Routine
This is a routine for the new year (or anytime during the year if you want!). The best time to do this routine is when a new year is starting. You can click here to read about this routine in depth. Here is a summary of the steps:
- Do a solo thing – Anything, as long as you’re by yourself. This is a step in a yearly reset routine because it allows you to take the time to think about what you truly want, without input from other people. When it comes to setting goals, and truly discovering what you want, you need to do this alone and have your own space to figure it out.
- Set a time for goal setting – Making goals will take time. You don’t have to take an entire day just dedicated to setting goals, you can still set an hour or two. This is so you can be more intentional and specific about your goals and write steps on how you’ll achieve them.
- List your life domains – in the process of pursuing new goals, you don’t want to neglect the other areas of your life. These include:
- Physical – your bodily health
- Emotional – your mental health
- Spiritual – your connection with your beliefs
- Intellectual – how you grow your knowledge
- Social – all your relationships such as your family, friendships, co-workers, significant other, etc.
- Vocational – your job
- Avocational – your hobbies and other activities
- Financial – your personal or family finances
4. List your limiting beliefs – Identify the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from achieving your goals and change those beliefs to something that pushes you forward instead.
5. Make your goals – Make sure that your goals are specific!
6. Identify your WHY – Realistically, you’re not going to feel motivated 100% of the time. That’s why it’s important to dig deeper into why you want to achieve your goal(s) in the first place.
7. Create Systems – To tie them all together, create your steps and what you will do to achieve your goals. You can evaluate them regularly to see if they bring you closer to or further away from your goals.
