It’s not about the flop, it’s about the bounce back.
About few months ago, I started doing daily vlogs on TikTok documenting my journey from bouncing back from my flop era. I did habits for my physical, inner, spiritual, and intellectual glow up as well as working on my dreams and goals. Once I got to Day 45, I truly felt I bounced back from my flop era, and started doing different vlogs documenting my law student life.
This blog post is a basic Beginner Guide to bouncing back from your flop era. You will learn of different habits you can do to for your physical, inner, intellectual, and social glow up, as well as some tips on how you can glow up on your career and goals. This blog post is for anyone who wants to bounce back from their flop era, and it can definitely be done.
Now, let’s dive into it.
The First Step – rate your life domains
Here are the first few steps to bouncing back from your flop era, before implementing some new habits.
1 – Rate your life domains
Give each of your life domains a rating from 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest):
- Physical
- Inner
- Spiritual
- Intellectual
- Social
- Careers & Goals Progress
If you want to take it a step further, write a sentence or two on why you gave it that particular rating.
Now, based on the rating, come up with habits that you can build in order to improve that particular rating of that life domain. If you’re stuck, here are some habits:
Physical Glow Up
This is everything to do with your physical health and your outside appearance.
Daily
- Exercise – This can be any exercise you want, as long as you enjoy it. The more you enjoy an activity, the more motivated you feel to do it. Make time during your day to exercise, even if it’s just for 30 minutes.
- Mindful Eating – Personally for me, I do not do diets. Instead, I just practice mindful eating where I make sure that I eat my three main meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the snacks. This helps me have a better relationship with food. For you, choose something that best works for you and your lifestyle, since this will be different for everyone.
- Drink a gallon of water a day – Drinking water is clearly an essential health habit. Drinking a gallon of water has different benefits as well, including making sure that you are always hydrated, and it helps with appetite too. I have a gallon water bottle so it’s easier to track my water.
- Beauty Habits – Implement beauty habits such as maintaining your nails, face, teeth, hair, and anything else you feel needs a focus.

Weekly
These are some of my personal weekly physical glow-up habits, you can steal some of these or add your own!
- One new hairstyle a week
- Alternate between straight & curly each week
- Face mask minimum twice a week
- Hair beauty routine – Hair wash minimum once a week
Inner Glow Up
This includes everything to do with your mental and emotional health, pretty much everything that happens on the inside.
Daily
- One chapter of a book a day – A good starting point is your favorite kind of book to read. It’s easier to build a reading habit if you’re interested in what you’re reading.
- One podcast a day – Same as above, start with podcasts you’re interested in. It’s easier to keep listening to podcasts if you’re interested in the topic you’re listening to.
- One self-care activity a day – This is 100% personalized to you as everyone has a different way of doing self-care.
- Mirror & Written affirmations – Firstly, writing down affirmations helps instill them in your brain. Saying them in the mirror while you make eye contact with yourself hits differently. Both written and mirror affirmations can make an impact, so it’s important to do both.
- Gratitude – Being grateful for three things every morning and every night can make a difference in your mindset shift.
- Social Media Only When’s – Your “only when’s” are your preset conditions on when you can use social media. For example, you’ll only use social media “only when” you’ve finished with all the work you need to get done, or when you’re standing up.
- Better Than Yesterday – Strive to get 1% better every day, and yes, it’ll be a small thing. You can do this as a little exercise by just writing down ONE thing you’ll do better than yesterday.
- Engage in comedy once a day – We all could use a laugh, right? You can engage in comedy through a TV show, movie, or video.
- No TV until all tasks are done – TV is fun, and it’s a great relaxing activity. However, it can also be the biggest distraction. It’s best to save TV as a reward for completing all your important tasks.
- Win Lists – Every win counts, and it’s important to acknowledge your win to remind yourself of what you have accomplished. Big or small, they are a win.
- Morning & Night Routine – Even if you don’t have a set bedtime and wake-up time, at least have a good idea of how your morning and night routine looks like. This will help you stay consistent with them, and you can ensure that you’ll start and end your day on the right foot.
Weekly
A few of my weekly habits for my inner glow-up:
- Social media detox night – this is a night where I 100% detox from social media. This is tricky, but it’s a pretty rewarding habit, even though I only do this once a week.
- Declutter ONE space – Decluttering takes a huge weight off my shoulders, especially if it’s a space I’ve been procrastinating. Since it’s my least favorite thing to do, I try to declutter at least one space a week.
- Add one new thing OR revise one thing to this list – You may notice that this list has multiple habits. It didn’t start out this way. Instead, it started off small, and as I began to think of new habits, I added them in. I’ve also taken out habits that haven’t been doing much for me, so I can still keep this list simple for me.
- Have a “just ONE” day – It is important to have a day of rest. But if you still want to make progress, ONE is better than NONE. For example, if you are a content creator taking a rest day, just ONE-story post is better than none.

Intellectual Glow Up
This has everything to do with the knowledge in your brain!
- Read & Podcasts – This is all part of your inner glow-up already, so whenever you read and listen to a podcast, you are also contributing to your intellectual glow-up.
- Daily language learning – There are many language apps out there already where you only need at least 5 minutes of your time to keep up with your streak. Even though 5 minutes may not seem like much, within the next few months, it can make a big difference.
Weekly Habits
- Watching YouTube videos on personal development for one hour – I used to do different online courses. However, a few months ago I decided to try something different. I saw that I had over 155 videos on my Watch Later playlist on YouTube, and they were all personal development-related. So, instead of doing a course for one hour a week, I watch personal development YouTube videos once a week. With the busy schedule I have, I hardly have time to watch YouTube for the fun of it. If you want, you can create a personal development study routine.
- One new meal a week – Cooking is an essential life skill to have and sometimes trying out new recipes can continue to make cooking more exciting.
Social Glow Up
The glow up with your social life!
Daily Habits
- Reach out to one new friend every day – This could be a friend you haven’t talked to in a while or a friend you just met.
- Add value every day – This could be through the work you do, sending someone a note of gratitude, or complimenting someone. It’s all up to you how you do it.
Weekly Habits
- Catch up with a friend – You can do whatever you want, from food catch-ups to coffee catch-ups. It can get tricky in adult life when everyone is busy, but it feels great to regularly catch up with different friends when you get the chance.
Monthly Habits
- Attend a networking event – Networking events are not only a great way to meet new people, but it’s also a great way to improve your social skills. (as an introvert, I push myself to go to these so I can improve my skills). You can find networking events through Meetup, EventBrite, and even Facebook events. Googling events can also help too!

Career & Goals Glow Up
Obviously, this is going to be extremely personalized to you based on your own career and goals. Here is a good starting point on how to bring yourself closer to your goals:
- Have daily, weekly, and monthly habits
- Do regular goals reviews & revision of your systems – This can be whenever you want, but at one point take the time to review your progress on your goals and think about what you can do to bring yourself closer to them, and what you can change. You can use this goal-setting routine to get started.

Now it’s time to bounce back from your flop era! If you want to start small, start by picking 2-3 habits for each:
