For some unusual reason, I wake up reasonably early when I am on vacation…
It was a Sunday morning, and just like every other Sunday back home, church always goes first. Worship Service wasn’t until 11am so we had time to go out and eat breakfast.
We left the “apartel” to go find restaurants to eat, and I again admired the palm trees just outside the building.
The original place we were supposed to have breakfast was “The Pancake House” (the original one!) and my stomach was already prepared to have some pancakes!
Sadly, the restaurant was packed and we realised we weren’t the only ones with the idea to get to the restaurant early in order to have some seats. We could’ve ate there, but it was going to be a one hour wait… I was too hungry to wait that long…
We finally found a restaurant just alongside the road, Ruby’s. I was hoping that they had pancakes because I had already set my mind on eating pancakes for breakfast. When we entered the restaurant, it definitely felt like it was the olden days. The waiters and waitresses were dressed in their “olden days diner” uniform, the music sounded “olden” (I am having a mind blank on my vocabulary right now…) and the set up of the diner reminded me of the movies (Back to the Future???).
For breakfast, I had quesadillas and I ended up enjoying it anyway even though I had craved for pancakes. For my drink, I had this delicious peanut butter milkshake! And it was so large too, I was forced to share (much to my dismay). Of course, I took the photo opportunity in the diner and even posed with one of the waiters!
Peanut Butter Milkshake! My Breakfast….
It was a cool “olden days” breakfast experience but the only thing unrealistic about this was that I had my phone on me… well actually everyone in the restaurant had their phone on them.
After breakfast, we went to church. Right after church, we returned to the “apartel” to change into casual clothes to go to Santa Monica!
We went to my cousin’s hotel to pick them up as we were all going together. Since LA traffic is soooooo crazy, the entire car ride was an hour and a half (felt like 2 hours though). On the bright side, it wasn’t going to be too hot by the time we got to the pier…
When we arrived at Santa Monica, the parking was a problem. Eventually we did find parking because we were so hungry, we stopped by for Mexican food (2nd day in the row). Then we finally had the energy to walk around the pier. But first… PICTURES!
It was actually hot but being typical, I was willing to burn in the sun for good lighting in a photo….
I didn’t want to stay in the sun too long, but I had two annoying photobombers ( who I happened to be related to). I didn’t get the chance to take a photo of just the Santa Monica sign but it didn’t even matter… I already had a bunch of photobombers in the background…
One last stop before we left the pier was riding on roller coaster…. It was NOTHING compared to the roller coaster rides we will eventually ride in Disneyland.
Soon enough, our time in Santa Monica was over, we had to go back to Anaheim to have dinner with some of my dad’s friends…
I didn’t really feel like writing about the rest of the day, all I can say was that the fettuccine pasta I had at the authentic Italian restaurant was the bomb!
We finally arrived back to the apartel by midnight and we still had to wake up early to go to Disneyland!
Disneyland, I am coming for you!!!
