Your go-to guide to motivate yourself to do your self-care!
Over the past few years, self-care has become one of my biggest priorities. Because for most of my teen years, I was always putting a lot of things first, that I forget to make time for me.
Although I was afraid that doing self-care over work was going to be detrimental, it actually gave me a lot more benefits! It made such a positive difference to my life, and now self-care is always one of my top priorities.
But one thing I struggled with at the beginning was motivating myself, and choosing self-care activities.
I wasn’t convinced that self-care is important so I needed motivation. At the same time, I wasted time trying to figure out a self-care activity to do. Plus, I felt that I had lacked time that I didn’t have time for any self-care activity.
And that’s exactly what this quick guide is for.
This guide will go through:
- Self-Care Activities – and they are all categorised into time limits. From activities you can do in 10 minutes or less, to activities you can do for more than an hour. And if you feel like you lack time, this list is for you! You can pick an activity based on how much time you have.
- Self-Care Resources – there has been a few self-care resources that had personally helped me motivate myself to do my self-care. Even though I had gotten better at prioritising it, there was still times that I had to motivate myself to do it (especially when I had hectic busy schedules).
- Self-Care Blog Posts – so of course, I thought I’d share a few of the self-care blog posts I had wrote in the past. I do think they will be really helpful for you!
I would love to know what’s your favourite self-care activity! Feel free to let me know in the comments (which only I see!).

Self-Care Resources
Small Steps to Self-Care E-book (by LAURENBARRI)
Yes, I am sort of self-promoting here. But since this post is about self-care, and the e-book is about self-care, it made sense.
This mini e-book covers the small steps to enhance your self-care! It includes action steps (they’re small steps!) that you can do so you can apply the content in the book.
It’s available to download in the Free Resource Library! If you don’t yet have access to it, click here to sign up!
Quotes Book (by LAURENBARRI)
I truly do think that the resources you can find in the Free Resource Library will benefit you for your self-care!
For one self-care activity, you can read through this quotes book. It’s pretty much a compilation of the posts I created in 2021. If you follow me on Instagram @laurenlbarri, then you know that I put out a lot of content to help with your self-growth.
So if you don’t feel like reading a book, and just want to read short-form content, you can use this!
It’s also available for download in the Free Resource Library.
Feel Good Challenge: Self-Care Calendar (by Skye of Thriving & Inspiring)
Last May I had a pretty hectic month with a new move & a sudden trip overseas. But the Self-Care calendar created by one of my blogging friends, Skye (click here to read our collaboration blog post!) had helped me with doing something for myself… even if it’s just for 10 minutes!
So of course, I had to include it in one of my recommended self-care resources! The calendar had laid out different (& easy!) self-care activities for each day. The reason why it’s helpful is that you can discover your favourite self-care activities along the way!
So you can click here to sign up to download it from the Thriving & Inspiring blog!
Positive Mindset Book (by Minds of Jupiter)
A few months back, I had purchased a mindset workbook from another one of my blogging friends, Lucy of Minds of Jupiter!
This workbook was particularly helpful for me with my self-reflection. There were extremely helpful prompts that got me thinking, especially during times when I felt like I was in a rut.
One of the self-care activities listed above was self-reflection & journalling, so this was a helpful resource that allowed me to do both!
Endless Resources… Pinterest!
Honestly, my go-to place for any new ideas, resources, and inspiration is Pinterest.
You can just search up self-care on Pinterest, and you will find countless of ideas for self-care activities, which may lead you to finding more helpful resources!
Blog Posts
Then, I’ve got some blog posts to recommend for you!
Here are some of the blog posts I wrote that I think will be helpful for your self-care:
- Ultimate Self-Care Guide for Starters – This post will outline the important things you need to know about self-care! This goes from mistakes to avoid making, to how to motivate yourself.
- How to Plan the Perfect Self-Date – Maybe doing activities on your own (especially if you’re leaving your house) can feel overwhelming. This blog post outlines how to plan a self-date that you will enjoy, and will help better the relationship you have with yourself.
- Simple Weekly & Monthly Self-Care Tasks for When You Don’t Have Time – Understandably, our schedules can get hectic and we are busy. Sometimes we are busy for self-care time. This blog post will outline self-care activities for when you’re lacking time.

Take a SMALL STEP
Now it’s time to apply some of the things we had gone through in this blog post!
Here are the small steps you can take:
- Do ONE of those self-care activities this week – If I did my maths right, there are about 40 different self-care activities that you can do! They range from less than 10 minutes activities to activities you can do for over an hour! Depending on your schedule this week, and how much time you have, set aside time to do one of them.
And that’s pretty much it! If you feel like you need more motivation to do your self-care you can:
- Check out some of the self-care resources.
- Read some of the blog posts!
And hopefully they’ll give you a boost of motivation.
Remember to prioritize you!
Hopefully you’ve benefited from this quick self-care guide with ideas of self-care activities, self-care resources, and some recommended blog posts! Self-care is a way you make time for yourself, and prioritizing yourself is extremely important.
And if you need extra resources to help motivate you, this blog has got you covered! We have the Free Resource Library that contains free resources to help you with your personal growth (click here to access). And there are also many blog posts especially on self-care that you can check out as well! If you need to take small steps so it doesn’t feel overwhelming, go for it (speaking of which, I do have a book on Small Steps as well which you can check out here).
Understandably, we may have busy schedules, but it’s still so important that we schedule in time for ourselves. That’s the way we build a better relationship with ourselves.
