Today, I had to actually be woken up by an alarm since it was worship service. Instead of snoozing my alarm like I always do, I actually got up (although it may be the bright sun that contributed to that).
The morning was just routine… I took a shower, ate some breakfast (bread with peanut butter with some fruit), and just changed for church.
We waited outside the apartment for a bit because we were going to get picked up to go to worship service. Although it was only 8:30am, it was already hot.
Once we arrived at Laken Village, I just waited in the chapel sitting in front of a fan since it was already so hot.
Once everything was all done, it was time to go to another village for a bible study. Some people from the Laken Village was also coming as well, and they all going to sit on the back of the truck.
However, the truck’s wheel got stuck and the vehicle couldn’t come out. They had to get help to get the wheel out of the hole. I took a while before the wheel finally got out and we were all ready to go.
I sat in the back of the truck with all the other villagers… there were so many of them. Also, the good thing about sitting there was that I was able to take some really good photos from the drive since it was very scenic.
The drive was very scenic… it had beautiful views. Good thing I had all the Go Pro footage since I didn’t want to use my phone because I was afraid of it flying off my hand.
About half an hour later, we arrived at the village. Once you pass my the village, you’ll eventually see the jungle…
I don’t want to over exaggerate this, but there was A LOT of bugs in this jungle, from spiders to flies to who knows what else. On the bright side however, there was good things to take pictures and videos of (like the fruit trees)…
I remember feeling so tired even though it hasn’t even been 5 minutes yet. It was hot and I found myself drinking water every minute. All that I was desperate for was the coconut and to sit down. Although the pictures I took make the jungle look appealing, it didn’t really feel appealing…
…..
Soon enough, it was FINALLY time to walk back. I ended up sitting down at the village and while I was waiting for my coconut, I decided to have a lollipop to have some sugar. I ended up giving the spare lollipops I had in my bag to the two little babies since they were staring at me the moment I took out my lollipop.
Eventually, I got give my coconut, and they even gave me a natural jungle straw! Once I finished it, I felt refreshed… it was actually really good!
It was then time for bible study. I was sitting down a chair with flies flying around me, the chicken and the chicks popping out of nowhere… and the dog kept coming out and under my chair… good thing I am not scared of dogs anymore…
After the bible study, it was time to go. I sat inside the truck this time because I felt tired. I got so tired I just fell asleep during the drive… I got briefly woken up by the rain and it was a good thing that I wasn’t sitting on the back of the truck this time…
We dropped everyone off back at Laken Village and we were eventually dropped off as well. Once we got to the apartment, I made some food (spicy noodles) and I showered for the second time (I felt really icky from the jungle).
I then went to my room…. and I crashed. By the time I woke up, it was 7pm and it was dark. I was hungry so I walked 30 minutes to the Chinese restaurant for dinner…
Once we were all done, we just walked back to the apartment. My dad actually tested me to see if I knew how to get back to the apartment by myself… and I kind of did… BUT I know for next time where to go…
The rest of the night was just staying at the apartment. We do have plans for tomorrow, and hopefully we will get to do them. Tomorrow will be one week left until I leave Vanuatu… but there are still plenty of more things to see (besides more more jungle experience…)
I’m going to try to study now, at least all I have to do is read my notes every night… (did I really though?)
