All about taking care of yourself throughout the day.
I remember when I first heard of self-care. I always thought it’s about the long activities you do such as going to the spa or taking a long bubble bath. Over time, I realized that self-care also includes the short activities you do.
This blog post will go through how you can practice self-care throughout the day: your mornings, evenings, and whatever you have in between. You will learn how you can easily do this and incorporate it into your lifestyle.
Now, let’s get into this.
How to Practice Self-Care in the MORNING
Here’s something to make life easier for yourself: your entire morning routine is self-care!
Your morning routine is supposed to help you set yourself up for the day and start it on a good note.
There are multiple self-care activities you can incorporate into your morning routine. Examples include:
- Doing light exercises such as stretching
- Drinking water
- Journalling/Gratitude practices
- Mindful breakfast time
- Skincare routine
- Reading a book
- Going for a short walk
Of course, this list can continue. The key is to do activities that will help you feel good in the morning.
How to Practice Self-Care during your work/study day
Just because you have a long day of work or studying, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do any self-care during that time. You need to incorporate self-care throughout your work/study day so you can have a break, refresh, and recharge.
Remember that self-care activities don’t have to take so long. Even the self-care activities that take 5 minutes can make a difference. Examples include:
- Going for a light walk every couple of hours – can take 5 minutes
- Having mindful meal-time snack times – depends how you utilize your short breaks and lunch breaks
- Breathing exercises – can take 2 minutes
- Listen to music (it’s better when you’re walking) – can take 5 minutes
- Digital detox
Depending on whether you work/study from home, or you’re out and about, you can choose activity based on your current situation. There will always be something you can do besides going on your phone.

How to Practice Self-Care in the Evenings
In my opinion, the evenings are when you have the most flexibility to practice self-care.
For instance, in the mornings, you may have limited time, and the same for your work days. In the evenings, it can be a little bit longer, and up until you go to bed.
I’d say that you can do any self-care activity you want, preferably one that doesn’t involve going on your phone and scrolling through social media randomly. Here are some of my personal favorites:
- Watching my favorite TV show with dinner
- Afternoon walk (I usually do this to get my steps up)
- Relaxing bath or shower
- Reading a book
- Face masks and watching a show
- Having a relaxing drink like tea or hot chocolate
- Listening to music
I love doing self-care in the evenings, especially if I had a bad day. A starting point to bouncing back from a bad day is doing some self-care.
Take a SMALL STEP
Make a list of your favorite self-care activities for the mornings, evenings, and during your work/study day. This is so you have a go-to list of things you can do when it’s time for your self-care.
To Wrap Up
Hopefully, this blog post gave you some perspective on how you can practice self-care throughout the day, in the easiest way possible. You may notice that self-care doesn’t always have to be a long activity. Most times, it includes the short 5-minute activities that can give you that quick recharge.
I have a free mini e-book that you can download if you want to get better with your self-care. You can check it out in the Free Resources Library here!
In the meantime, don’t forget to prioritize yourself <3
