Get your life together *ish*.
Now, you may think that these will have a whole bunch of steps. I know that before I used to come across a lot of YouTube videos and articles on how to get my life together, and I would get overwhelmed with the 10+ steps I have to do.
However, I learned that when it comes to getting your life together, you’re not supposed to get overwhelmed with so many steps and tasks to do. Instead, it’s supposed to be a simple process.
That’s why, this blog post is all about getting your life together for 2024 (ish) by outlining only four steps. You will learn the four simple steps that will be enough to help you get your life together.
This blog post is for anyone who just wants to keep things simple. Of course, if you want to add more steps, you can. Nonetheless, it’s best to start simple, and then add more as you go.
Let’s dive in.
Step 1 – List your Life Domains
To get your life together and level up your life, start by reflecting on your current progress with all your life domains. Your life domains include:
- Physical – your physical health;
- Emotional/Mental – your mental health;
- Spiritual – your connection with your beliefs;
- Intellectual – the knowledge you grow;
- Social – all your relationships;
- Vocational – your job;
- Avocational – your hobbies; and
- Financial – obviously, your finances!
To get started, you can just rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest).
If you want to take it a step further, you can write down a sentence or two on why you gave it that rating. Reflecting on these things can help you be more aware of what you need to work on, and how you can improve it.
Step 2 – Set Mini-Goals for These Life Domains
Now that you have given it a rating and reflection, it’s time to set mini goals for your life domains.
Mini goals can just be small objectives that can help you improve the rating you gave the life domains.
For example, if you gave the physical life domain a rating of 5, your mini goals to improve it can be to exercise 3 times a week or try out a new physical activity every month.

Step 3 – Reflect On Your Current Habits & Change if Necessary
It’s also extremely important to level up your habits.
To level up your habits, you first need to reflect on your current ones. Think about any habits you feel are bringing you closer to your goals, and the habits that are bringing you further away from them.
If any habits are doing the latter, it is time to think of alternative habits to replace them.
Habits may seem like small things in our lives. But the truth is, our habits drive the direction of our lives. So, that’s why, when it comes to getting your life together, getting your habits together is key.
Step 4 – Set Your Goals
The last step is the most obvious and known step which is to set your goals.
And not just setting goals, but setting goals in a way that you can set yourself up for success.
Make it Specific
First, you have to make your goals specific. For example, there are goals we’ve heard of such as “be happier” or “enjoy life more”. However, what exactly do they mean?
The problem with these vague goals is that they can mean a lot of things. So instead of being vague, dig deeper, and make it specific to you.
For example, instead of saying “Be happier”, list different activities or anything else that you feel makes you happy. For instance, practicing gratitude makes you happier. Therefore, practicing gratitude every morning could be your specific goal.
Have a WHY
Behind all the goals you’re making, have a BIG reason why you want to accomplish them.
Let’s face it, sticking with new habits and staying away from bad habits can get tricky. On top of that, working on your goals can get challenging especially since you don’t achieve them right away.
That’s why you need to have a why that would get you through the days when you don’t feel like doing anything.
For example, the why behind a goal to eat healthier is that you want to improve your health and be more energized than sluggish.
Create your systems
Then of course, behind every goal is a plan that helps you achieve that goal.
Because after all, setting goals is easy, creating a plan and executing it is another step.
So, think of a plan for how you can accomplish your goals. These include your habits and routines.
For example, a plan to accomplish your goals to achieve a certain grade would be some study habits and routines. The most important part is that it is all personalized to you.
