Busy Week in My Life! – Daily Habits August 2023

Busy Week in My Life! – Daily Habits August 2023

August 21, 2023

It is that particular time of quarter when I once again share my updated Week in My Life with you! As of August 2023, I am still a law student, while working as a freelance writer and workshop facilitator! Outside of that, is my life such as my church commitments, passion projects (like this blog), and also my overall well-being.

This blog post is also a documenting blog post for me, as they are great to look back on to see how life was different! I can’t wait to read this in a year’s time. If you haven’t checked out my other Week in My Life blog posts, here they are:

  • Week in My Life – 2021!
  • Week in My Life – March 2023
  • Week in My Life – August 2023

And I’ll also add some SMALL STEP tips that you can apply if you feel that it can help you with your life!

Now, let’s dive in.

MONDAY

5:30AM to 6:00AM – Morning Routine

My morning routine usually changes over time. At the moment, my morning routine starts with a prayer, drinking water, reading, gratitude, and affirmations. Usually, I would have a morning walk, but since it’s winter, it’s a bit too dark to go for one.

6:00AM to 8:00AM – Content Work

The mornings are my most creative time of the day. That’s why, I work on my content in the morning, and everything else is in the afternoon.

SMALL STEP TIP: Figure out what time of the day you work best. Is it the morning? Afternoons? Evenings? Late Evenings? It all depends on you! Everyone has a different temperament but it’s important to know what yours is so you can choose the right time of the day to do your hard work/creative work.

8:00AM to 9:00AM – Morning Walk

Now that it’s lighter, I go for my morning walk. I start off the walk listening to music, and then I switch to a podcast.

9:00AM to 10:00AM – Breakfast & Get Ready

Right after my walk, I make my big breakfast. Then I proceed with getting ready.

10:00AM to 11:30AM – Freelance Writing Work

This part of the day is where I do my freelance writing work. I am only working for one company at the moment, so I don’t have a huge workload at the moment.

11:30AM to 12:00PM – Lunch

Since I meal prepped on Sunday, all I have to do during my lunch break is heat up the food and eat it! Saves me so much time.

SMALL STEP: Definitely consider doing meal prepping as one of the things you do on your Sunday. Not only do you save time and energy from cooking throughout the week, but you also save money from impulsively buying food just because didn’t have the energy or time to cook ahead of time.

12:00PM to 1:30PM – Other Work Tasks

Then I do my other work tasks such as preparation for my other job or doing other freelance writing tasks. It all depends on what I need to get completed and it fluctuates daily.

1:45PM – 5:00PM – Study

It’s finally time for me to study! I do my readings, watch my lectures, and work on my assessments. I also use the pomodoro technique mostly for studies (and also work tasks as well!).

SMALL STEP TIP: You can use the pomodoro technique to help you with your work sessions. They’re where you work in 25 minute blocks and follow it up with a 5 minute break. Once you do three of those, you take a longer break.

This helps break the task, so it doesn’t seem overwhelming, and it also gives you the break your brain needs.

5:15PM – 6:15PM – Life Admin Tasks

At least a few times a week I try to do a life admin task such as running an errand, booking appointments, going to appointments, pretty much anything that’s outside my usual work and study commitments. These are things I find are easy to not do when you don’t schedule the time to do them.

6:15PM – 7:00PM – Batched Tasks

This is where I batch all my emails, messages, and other tasks where it’s easier and more efficient to do them in one go, as opposed to throughout the day. For instance, I find myself always getting distracted by checking emails throughout the day, so that’s why batching them in one section helps me to just deal with them in one go.

7:00PM to sleep – Dinner & Night Routine

Regardless on what my schedule is such as if I’m catching up with a friend, or something came up along the way, I will always be having my night routine.

Also just note that this schedule isn’t the same every week. This is just an average schedule. Most of the time, things pop up like catching up with friends, social events, and other things where I need to move things around.

TUESDAY

Note: I’m not going to expand on the things that I’ve already explained 😊

5:30AM to 6:00AM – Morning Routine

6:00AM to 8:00AM – Content Work

8:00AM to 9:00AM – Morning Walk

9:00AM to 9:45AM – Breakfast & Get Ready

9:45AM to 10:30AM – Batched Tasks

Since I’m on campus for classes today, I switch up the time I do my batched tasks.

10:30AM – 11:00AM – Lunch

11:00AM to 11:30AM – Walk to Campus

I live about 20 minutes’ walk from campus, but I still give myself leeway.

11:30AM to 12:30PM – Class 1

My first class for the day!

12:30PM to 2:30PM – Class 2

Then, my second class for the day!

2:30PM to 3:00PM – Walk back home.

Once my second-class finishes, I walk straight home.

3:00PM to 4:30PM – Freelance Writing Work

4:30PM to 5:00PM – Commute to workshop

Whenever I need to pump myself up, I listen to music as opposed to a podcast. I usually listen to podcasts in the cars and don’t listen to music until I’ve finished my podcast list. However, whenever I need to pump myself up and energize myself, I listen to music.

5:00PM to 7:00PM – Facilitate Workshop

This includes the setup time, pack up, and of course, facilitating the actual workshop.

7:00PM to 7:30PM – Drive back home

7:30PM to 8:30PM – Learning Course

So lately, I’ve been watching personal development-related videos that I’ve saved on my Watch Later playlist on YouTube! Watching these is like going back to my roots… I started getting into personal development because of these videos. Then suddenly, I just forgot about them LOL.

SMALL STEP: Take some time during the week to watch some personal development videos on YouTube! Even just the short ones. They are a great way to learn new concepts and tips to implement in your life!

8:30PM to sleep – Night Routine

Again, my day depends on what else had popped up. My night routine is either earlier or later depending on what other plans I had that day.

Wednesday

5:30AM to 6:00AM – Morning Routine

6:00AM to 8:00AM – Content Work

8:00AM to 9:00AM – Morning Walk

9:00AM to 9:45AM – Breakfast & Get Ready

10:00AM to 11:30AM – Freelance Writing Work

11:30AM to 12:00PM – Lunch

12:00PM to 3:15PM – Study

3:30PM to 4:30PM – Life Admin Tasks

4:30PM – 5:30PM – Batched Tasks

5:30PM to 5:50PM – Dinner

6:00PM to Sleep – Church, Night Routine

SMALL STEP TIP: Embrace the flexibility! When you’re 80, you’re going to be happier with saying that you had a different week every week, as opposed to you having the same exact schedule every week.

Thursday

5:30AM to 6:00AM – Morning Routine

6:00AM to 8:00AM – Content Work

8:00AM to 9:00AM – Morning Walk

9:00AM to 9:45AM – Breakfast & Get Ready

9:45AM to 11:15AM – Freelance Writing Work

11:15AM to 11:45AM – Lunch

11:45AM to 1:15PM – Other Work Tasks

1:15PM to 1:45PM – Drive to Placement

Since I’m pumping myself up, I listen to music!

SMALL STEP TIP: Have a separate music playlist for mornings, evenings, or even just a general confidence booster or energy boosting playlist!

2:00PM to 5:00PM – Placement/Internship

For this semester, I am doing a placement and internship! It’s a pretty good one since it only requires 3 hours of my week!

5:00PM to 5:30PM – Drive to campus for class

As you can see, Thursdays are my busy days! Once I finish my internship, it’s straight to class. Not before I pick up a little drink treat beforehand.

5:30PM to 7:30PM – Class

If I’m lucky, I sneak in a quick snack!

7:30PM to 8:00PM – Drive home

Since I drove to the internship and straight to class, I’m driving home as opposed to walking it.

8:00PM to 8:30PM – Dinner (finally!)

8:30PM to sleep – Batched tasks, Night Routine

Then I finish up the batched tasks I need to complete and do my night routine.

I try not to schedule anything else on Thursdays since my day is already full-on with internship and class. That’s why I try to end the night here.

Friday

5:30AM to 6:00AM – Morning Routine

6:00AM to 8:00AM – Batch all social media content

Sundays is where I batch on my social media content such as Instagram and TikTok. As you can probably see, I batch a lot of things. This is because it’s more efficient for me to do everything in one go where I have the focus, as opposed to trying to do it throughout the day.

8:00AM to 9:00AM – Morning Walk

9:00AM to 9:45AM – Breakfast & Get Ready

10:00AM to 11:30AM – Freelance Writing Work

11:30AM to 12:00PM – Lunch

12:00PM to 1:30PM – Other Work Tasks

1:45PM to 5:00PM –  Study

5:15PM to 5:45PM – Life Admin Tasks

6:00PM – 7:00PM – Batched Tasks

7:00PM – onwards – Depends honestly…

I feel like my Friday night changes depending on whether I go to Muay Thai class, or if I attend a Bible Study at Church. Either way, I’m doing my night routine at the end of it!

Take a SMALL STEP

Pick at least one of the small step tips that I’ve mentioned in this blog post and implement them into your life! I truly hope you got some value out of this blog post, and maybe some ideas too.

To Wrap Up

And that wraps up another Week in My Life! For the past year (2023), I’ve noticed that every few months I’ve been doing these Week in My Life. So I predict it’ll be next quarter where you’ll see more of how my life has changed!

I try my best to be productive and stick with the schedule as much as I can, but at the same time, I stay flexible whenever things pop up!

So, if you noticed, I’ve talked a lot about small steps! I actually have a free book called Small Steps to Progression which you can download here! It’s important to take small steps, and my book talks all about it!

In the meantime, stay tuned for the next blog post!
