Just like you are in your own movie or TV show
Living my main character life… has changed my life! In my experience, it makes life so much more exciting, even the little and mundane moments. Romanticizing my life has also helped me practice more gratitude because it reminds me that there is so much beauty in what you currently have.
And I want to share you some of the things that have helped me become the main character of my life! It’s a compilation of different things I have learned.
When I discovered these things that helped me become the main character of my life, they were during random times of my life.
So, that’s why I decided to compile everything that helped me become the main character into a structured 28-day challenge.
Week 1 (Days 1-7) will focus on uncovering who you already are. Being the main character of your life, and starting to live that way doesn’t involve changing who you are at all. So that’s why the first week is focusing on uncovering your life already and how you can use that to start living the main character life.
Week 2 & 3 (Days 8-21) will focus on building your main character’s life habits. Habits are key in making progress in your life in general, moreover for living a main character life. These habits will also focus on the main life domains that will be discussed in the blog.
Week 4 (Days 22-28) will be the cherry on top. It will be little extra things you can implement so you can maximize that feeling of a main character life.
Now, let’s dive in.
WEEK 1: who we already are
This week will first uncover who you already are. Living your main character’s life doesn’t have to involve changing yourself at all… we just need to discover what needs to be brought out.
Day 1: Rate Your Life Domains
The first step to getting your main character life together is rating your progress in each of your life domains. Your life domains include:
- Physical – your physical health
- Mental/Emotional
- Spiritual – your connection with your beliefs (religion, culture)
- Intellectual – how you grow your knowledge
- Social – all your relationships
- Vocational – your career
- Avocational – your hobbies and other activities
- Financial – your personal or family finances
We will go back to these life domains later on! You can learn more deeply about these in this blog post.
Day 2: Listing your hobbies
A huge part of living your main character life is engaging with your passions, interests, and hobbies.
Think of your current hobbies, and categorize them into the following:
- A hobby that grows your knowledge
- A hobby that enhances your mindset
- A hobby that makes you money
- A hobby that makes you creative
- A hobby that keeps you fit
- A hobby that allows you to relax
- A hobby that allows you to meet people
- A hobby that allows you to help people
If you don’t have a hobby that falls into any of these categories, think about a hobby that you would like to try that would. You can read more about these hobbies here.
Day 3: List your long-term goals
Another huge part about living your main character life is working towards a goal.
Think of a movie or TV show where the characters are always looking to achieve something, big or small. That’s what makes episodes or movies so interesting right? It’s like our own lives.
If you want to take your goal-setting a step-forward, I suggest reading this blog post on the goal-setting routine!
Day 4: Create your mini biography
This is where you write down your:
- life highlights
- achievements
- defining moments
- life stories
- pretty much everything you can about you
Living your main character life is about remembering who you are, especially during those moments of comparison and losing yourself. This mini biography is something to look back on whenever you experience those moments.
Day 5: Create your list of favorites
List your favorite… everything! These include your favorite:
- TV show
- Movie
- Place
- Activity
- Book
- Music
… and the list goes on!
Day 6: List your priorities & order them
List down your current commitments and priorities, and order them based on what is most important to you.
This serves as a basis for when you start scheduling and planning your day.
Day 7: What’s currently holding you back?
The last task for this week is thinking about your limiting beliefs. What is currently holding you back from achieving your full potential? Once you identify them, replace them with more motivating ones.

WEEK 2-3: Building your main character habits
This is where we start building habits that help you get closer to where you want to be, and act more like the main character of your life.
Day 8: List your favorite self-care activities & new ones you want to try
Self-care is an important main character because they need to take care of themselves. Make a list of self-care activities you already enjoy, and new ones you would like to try. Some ideas are here.
Day 9: Have self-care time today… and schedule it everyday moving forward
Continuing from the previous day, intentional time to rest and recharge regularly because the main character needs to relax too! Do a self-care activity that you enjoy, and don’t forget to schedule regular self-care time moving forward.
Day 10: List your favorite solo date activities
Solo dates is one of the main weekly habits of the main character life. Create a list of go-to solo dates so when it’s time for your solo date, you know what activity to try.
Here are some solo date ideas here, there are over 100 of them!
Day 11: Take yourself on a solo date & schedule them going forward
Now it’s time to yourself out on a solo date! Don’t forget to schedule them going forward as well.
Day 12: List at least 2 physical activities to regularly do
Focusing on the physical life domain, list down your favorite physical activities for your exercise.
Day 13: Create a recipe bank
This would be filled with easy-to-go recipes to meal prep or make so you can stick with your healthy eating habits.
Day 14: Start reading a book that you’re interested in
Reading is a great mental health habit to help with your mental/emotional life domain. The key to enjoying reading is to pick a book you’re genuinely interested in.
If you want to read more personal development books, I’ve got a few of my personal faves in this blog post.

Day 15: Create a podcast playlist
Podcasts are another way to help with your mental/emotional life domain. They are also good replacements for music whenever you are commuting. If you would like to make the most of your commuting time, listening to podcasts instead of music is a great starting point.
Day 16: Watch a YouTube video to help with your productivity, confidence, and pretty much anything that can help you in life
When it comes to your intellectual life domain, it is beyond what you usually study (if you go to school/college).
It is also learning about other things you’re interested in, and learning different ways to grow yourself, and YouTube videos are free to watch, and have a huge variety.
So, go on YouTube, watch a YouTube video about something you want to get better at, whether that’d be being more productive or confident… or whatever you think.
Day 17: Reach out to a friend or two today
Of course, a significant part of a TV show or movie’s main character is their social circle. While you don’t always have to have a huge circle of friends or a friend group, just having some people you can chat, spend time with, and have as support is already great.
Regardless of how busy your day goes, reaching out is an easy daily or every two days habit.
Day 18: List your career goals
On Day 3, we talked about listing your long-term goals. Dig deeper into your goals that are related to your career. A part of your vocational life domain (your career) is working on your career. Think of little things you can do to get closer to your career goals or progression.
Day 19: Do one of your hobbies today
On Day 2, we listed the hobbies that we currently have and possibly even hobbies you want to try. For this day, do one of them. Doing your hobbies is a part of your avocational life domain.
Day 20: Go on a Pinterest scroll for inspiration
A part of your main character life is striving to find new ways to grow, build, and discover more about yourself.
Pinterest is a great place to find new ideas on how you can progress physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially (each of your life domains btw!)

Week 4: Putting the cherry on top
Now that we have built the main foundations (uncovering who you already are & building your habits), it’s time to add the cherry on top. The cherry on top refers to extra ways to feel like the main character of your life.
Day 21: Set your style
Find inspiration and set your style. How would this main character (aka you) dress during casual days? Fancy days? When they’re just at home?
Day 22: Create your main character music playlist
You know how every movie or TV show has a soundtrack and it almost always suits perfectly with it? Create your own soundtrack aka the music playlist that you will listen to whenever you need to have your main character moment.
Day 23: Create inspirational Pinterest boards
Use Pinterest to save images and quotes that represents your main character life. If you want to do a physical board, you can do that too!
Day 24: Discover new movies & TV shows to watch
Choose some TV shows or movies to continue to inspire you to live your main character life. Watching main character moments can help motivate you to live like a main character.
Day 25: Create your spaces to reflect your main character life
You don’t have to do a full-on room makeover, you can even just add little things or components that can make a difference.
Day 26: Write down your story moments
One of my favorite daily habits is writing down one story moment a day. Whether I have a day where I go out and do a lot of things, or I have a day where I’m just working from home, there will be a story out of it. These story moments are fun to look back on.
Day 27: Do an activity you loved doing as a child
Engage in something fun that you used to love as a kid. You can play a game, coloring, or revisit an old hobby.
Day 28: Treat Yourself
Don’t forget to treat yourself to a little gift or foodie treat. The main characters reward themselves! :))
To Wrap Up
Hopefully you feel inspired to start this challenge, or at least pick a few of the days activities to implement in your life. Either way, they are small steps forward to becoming the true main character of your life.
Speaking of small steps, I have written a book about it which you can check out in the Free Resources Library. It will also give you some habit ideas as well!
In the meantime, live your main character life!
