I(ce) s(cream) at this place! WARNING – this post has a lot of Ice Cream puns…
One of the places on my San Francisco Bucket list was so adventurous it needed its own post…
If I could describe San Francisco’s Museum of Ice Cream in one sentence it would be that it’s basically a recipe for me to give a pun to everything I see.
At the time I went to this place, I went through a phase where I really loved puns (still love puns now but not too obsessive as I was then). Going to a place where there’s ice cream everywhere, it was really hard not to clear my mind of the puns…
We had to book a spot for this place, which we did. Good thing was that the line to wait wasn’t too long for us since we booked and we were able to get it right away. We had our ice cream tour guide introduce the place, and made us do icebreaker games… including giving ourselves our SWEET nickname – my one was LAULEA POP.
If you don’t get it, let me break it down for you:
first 3 letters of my first name (LAUREN) + first 3 letters of my middle name (LEAH) = LAULEA
What happens when you say it out loud? It sounds like LOLLY, and then what sounds cool when you say lolly? Lollypop! 😉
Okay enough with that.
Of course, why would you go to an Ice Cream Museum when you don’t get to eat ice cream right? That was the very first thing we did. I don’t even remember which flavour I got, but all I remember is that I loved it…
Let me just say, that I was Ice-SCREAMING with excitement (count the number of puns I dare you!).
Everyone was so friendly and bubbly, although I do believe that it may be because of the sugar rush everyone is getting…
I mean if I could FREEZE time, I would because this place was absolutely so cute!
We then proceeded to why most people love to go here – the PHOTOS! I say that no matter whether or not you’re photogenic, taking photos here are fun! The best part is, that you get to have ice cream while you do it!
If there’s one thing that ice cream really helps me with, is that it relieves my mood swings…. which is coincidental that I’m saying this because of this photo of me on the swing??
We then were able to have 5 minutes in the sprinkle pool! Unfortunately, they were not real sprinkles… but that’s kind of a good thing though because of hygienic reasons right?
Okay, warning alert, I’m just about to sprinkle you with puns… (whoops!).
Anyways, no one needs to worry about drowning, because it’s practically hard to.
And it’s hard to do a cannonball into the pool because that’s practically hard to do too.
BUT what you can do is bring your phone to the pool to take photos and not worry about it getting wet!
Because where else are you able to bring your phone into a pool without worrying about breaking it? (just don’t get sprinkles inside your phone though!).
The sprinkle pool was so much fun! I had a blast playing with the sprinkles more than taking the photos, and I wouldn’t even mind relaxing in there for a bit if it wasn’t for the 5 minute limit…
Also note that even after you take a “sprinkle shower”, you’ll probably still find yourself with some sprinkles on your clothes and in your hair… up till this day (almost 2 years later), I still find sprinkles in my shorts…. like how did it get there??
Oh and also, the “sprinkle shower” is basically a blowdryer blowing off all the sprinkles in your body… you’re not showering with sprinkles.
Still though, it was a blast!
After the sprinkle pool, it didn’t stop there. Not only were there more places where you can take more photos, there was also mini spots where you can allow your creativity to shine…
In between spots, my favourite part pretty much is whenever they gave us a new ice cream or popsicle, and you get to pick which flavour you wanted!
Let me just say that having ice cream on my hand saved me from a lot of awkward poses in photoshoots. This is because my I always have a hard time making my hands look less awkward when I’m doing photos.
I mean, I don’t like to keep doing the same poses, but what am I going to do with my hands? Luckily I had the ice cream to save the photos, just hold the ice cream… I’m in the ice cream museum anyway!
One of my other favourite places in the museum (yeah, there were plenty, I’m pretty sure I misued the word “favourite” now), was the diner.
It was pretty cool because, I don’t know about anyone else, but when I think of diners, my mind automatically says that it’s the 50’s.
And the diner was in fact (kind of) 50’s style!
I mean, what’s a 50’s Style diner without a juicebox with records around it right?
What’s a 50’s Style diner without a waitress in a 50’s costume?
What’s an explanation of a 50’s Style diner if you don’t mention the 50’s gazillion times?
Anyways, it wasn’t a real diner. They didn’t serve food, it was just the set… but I ain’t complaining!
Okay, so here’s another thing I am excited to talk about… a WHEEL!
Yes, a WHEEL … WHEEL you all stop judging me for liking insignificant things? (whoops again).
I don’t think in my lifetime have I ever got to spin a big wheel. I mean, when I saw that wheel, I was like “I WHEEL spin it” (everyone in my family got away from me once I said this).
There were no prizes or anything, just a whole bunch of ice cream PUNS… that’s the scoop for you!
When I checked how many photos we took at this place, it was more photos than I took at my own graduation!
So I have a couple of my favourite ones – a couple of pics where I am not holding an ice cream, and my hands are not making the photo look bad….
Last but not least, something that I realised would make an ice cream museum incomplete, is that if they don’t have an ice cream vault.
Sadly it’s not real and we couldn’t break into it to see if we can scoop us some more ice cream. Yeah I could’ve hypothetically gotten arrested for threatening to break into the vault OR for that pun…
Then finally the tour is completed and you end up in the gift shop! There’s a lot of cute souvenirs to get for me to remember our SWEET (literally and figuratively!) time, so I just settled for the sweater and the countless photos we took…
And that wraps up my pun adventure in an ice cream museum! Let me just say, I seriously felt like I was going to melt because of how cute everything was (sorry, one more pun to end this)
P.S I promise that this is the only blog post where there are so many puns!!
