Wait… isn’t Disneyland the happiest place on earth?
The above statement is also true as well. Disneyland sticks to its truth – it’s the happiest place on earth. It’s really hard to be sad at Disneyland (unless you’re leaving forever).
I’ve been to Disneyland countless times in my lifetime, and I am still not sick of it.
Even if I am on 4 hours of sleep, I still have the energy to walk around a full day at Disneyland (with help of some caffeine of course).
Even if I have been to every ride already, I am still not sick of it. Even if I don’t even go on any rides at Disneyland, I’m still not going to be sick of it.
The point is – I’m never going to be sick of Disneyland.
If I had an essay in uni where I got to write about my day in Disneyland, I’m 100% sure that I would be getting an A+ for it.
I could technically write the essay that I would write for uni if by some rare chance the essay question was on how much I love Disneyland, however essays in uni are 2000 words long. If there’s anything my blogs posts aren’t, they aren’t long! 😉
So I already knew many times that Disneyland is indeed the happiest place on earth but, you still need to be organised to have fun.
And when you are organised, you can make productive use of your time in Disneyland – making the most out of everything that is there.
While we were in the shuttle ready to go to Disneyland, we already had to plan out in our mind which rides we wanted to ride on first, because lines get crazy and long after peak hour hits.
I don’t remember which rides I chose during this year, since every year the number one ride I want to go to changes each time.
When my sister and I agreed on which rides we wanted to ride first, we noted it down in our mind to rush to the Fast Pass station.
Eventually we got to Disneyland. However, there was still the long line that we had to go through.
Even though I hate waiting in long lines, when it’s Disneyland I don’t really mind, because I know that I am going to get in anyway. Besides, there’s plenty of photo opportunities anyway…
Once we past through the entrance gates, there was one thing that my sister and I absolutely had to do first – take a picture in front of the castle!
Not so surprisingly so did a lot of other people. We did manage to take good photos though….
Since we didn’t have breakfast at all back in the hotel, we had to eat breakfast.
My sister and I looked for a nice place to eat. As crazy as it sounds, we wanted to eat breakfast at a restaurant that basically screams “We’re at Disneyland”. That’s where we found exactly what we are looking for.
I’m ashamed to admit that we do not even know the name of this actual restaurant, it’s just going to be known to us… and only us, the “We’re at Disneyland” restaurant.
In terms of their food, it basically screams “We’re at Disneyland!” as well. I got a Mickey shaped waffle.
To be transparent, I only picked it because it was the only thing on the menu that basically screams “We’re at Disneyland!”. Good thing though was that the waffle was very delicious and it was worth a bit of a long wait…
So because our parents wanted to just sit down a bit more before we walked around, my sister and I decided to take the opportunity and take photos. We also wanted to get our castle pictures out of the way as well so we can spend the rest of the day trying to get into all the good rides.
Lets note though that even though we’ve been here many times, we had never once rode on the cart being led by the horse… ever!
Luckily for us there was hardly anyone now taking photos in front of the castle, and it was pretty much the only time we could without be surrounded by a crowd of people.
Also, taking a photo without any photobombers is pretty much impossible, so any photo that had ever been taken would have at least one photobomber in it.
Also I don’t understand why they decided to put Xmas stuff on the castle since it was a bit early – still though taking a photo in front of the castle screams “We’re at Disneyland!”.
Once we were satisfied with the photos we had taken (and also satisfied with the amount of safety shots we had taken), we decided to go on a ride, a ride with the shortest waiting time.
We decided to go to the place where I got my first drivers’ license – Autopia! It is also the only place where you can speed as fast as you can without getting worried about getting pulled over (as long as you don’t hit anyone!)
Eventually, for the rest of the… first half of the day, we went on all the rides that we wanted to go on.
We were able to get Fast Passes for rides that would easily have a long wait time, and we were able to get them for later on during the day.
Fast passes are a must at Disneyland, especially for the rides you want to go on. Getting fast passes pretty much saves a lot of time in waiting, you just have to pick wisely though because you only have limited fast passes in an hour, in the day.
For the rides that we didn’t get a fast pass for, we just stood in line and… waited (no life hack on how to wait shorter!).
When I wrote about every ride in my journal, it was really detailed… too detailed… and too long. So I’m just going to add in which ones were my favourite rides.
The Haunted Mansion has always been one of my favourites, and it has always been the ride that I add on to the list of rides we want to go on. However, it took me several times over many years of waiting in line for this ride, to finally get this pun:
I feel really bad for not remembering the name of this ride which I claim to be one of my favourite rides, but maybe if you look at the picture you may recognise it?
As some people may know of me, I’m not a fan of waiting in lines… except in Disneyland.
However, just like anything else, there’s an exception – waiting in line for food!
In all the times I’ve been to Disneyland, there’s not one restaurant or place to eat where the lines are not long. The good thing however is that once you get your food, the wait is worth it (as well as all the hunger mood swings that you get if you haven’t eaten in a while).
Also note to self as always is to not hop on a ride right away if you’ve just eaten… I think that explains a lot for itself. But on the bright side at least you can take some photos??
Ooooh and also, you can also get a badge that will say if it’s your birthday, and everyone who works at Disneyland will say happy birthday to you.
I was able to get one and wear it and it was pretty cool! There was one problem – it wasn’t my birthday nor was it even close to my birthday (whoops again).
So a ride that I love which I DO know the name of is Splash Mountain. To sum it up it’s a roller coaster where you go up in the mountain and get splashed!! (good explanation right?).
My family would remember their favourite photo of me of this entire trip, but that is going to stay out of the public for now…
A good ride that I prefer to ride at night is It’s a Small World.
It’s a long line for that as well, and that is only annoying for someone if they hate getting songs stuck in their head.
The song that is played throughout the entire ride (and while waiting in line for the ride) is “It’s a Small World” (oooooh surprise right?).
It’s safe to say that after waiting in line for over an hour, plus the 10 plus minutes we were on the ride (although it’s probably inaccurate the wait in line was probably longer), the song did get stuck in my head the rest of the day, the week, the holiday, and the year.
And of course, what is a trip to Disneyland without at least going to Toonstown and meeting Mickey Mouse right? No, meeting Mickey Mouse is not just for little kids… anyone can meet Mickey Mouse okay?
Just like any other line at Disneyland (or really any other lines anywhere else), you still had to wait, even to meet Mickey Mouse. The cool part is though is that you get to see Mickey’s house while in line… (yes it’s not real – don’t ruin it for the kids, including me!).
After seeing Mickey, we proceeded to spending the rest of the night going on all the other rides since they are not as long when it’s late.
I really wish I could write about every single detail about what happened during my day in Disneyland, but the length of that would be longer than my uni essays. Even writing about my highlights is making the blog a little lengthy.
So, I have one last highlight to share…. the apple crumble!!!! (Yes, it’s food not a ride).
Sadly, I had to share it with my sister, but I guess sharing is caring?
That wraps up my day at Disneyland – it had to be very organised and productive.
We had to ride the rides we wanted to ride first, and then we had to get fast passes for the other rides we wanted to go to.
We had to time when we ate, and we had to time when we had to go to the bathroom. We had to time when we can go on rides again after eating – we had to organise everything….
That just goes to say that a day in Disneyland does require planning so that you can maximise your fun, same thing as if you have to plan our your day to max out your productivity.
Every time I go to Disneyland, I always learn something new to remember for next time and that’s to do the same exact thing I did this year and be organised again…
Goodbye Disneyland… I’ll be back again, pinky promise!
