How my dream trip changed my personal growth journey.
I finally went on my dream trip and visited my dream countries in Europe.
I started my trip in London. Then, I visited Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Rome before flying back home.
Before this trip, I thought I was going for a change of scenery, to see my dream cities, and live through my Pinterest board. But I didn’t realize that I was about to experience a much deeper kind of change.
Before this trip
For years, I’ve been someone who lived by structure. I habit tracked. I did monthly resets, quarterly resets, and measured my growth through numbers. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t from a place of obsession. Instead, it was from a goal to become the best version of myself.
However, somewhere along the way, self-improvement began to feel like self-surveillance.
And then Europe happened.

After this trip
Travelling through London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Rome, I had a whole range of emotions. I cried (happy tears), got emotional, sat in silence, and enjoyed the full experience.
But most importantly, I started to see life differently. I rested when I needed to. I walked without counting steps. I let the days unfold naturally without trying to “optimize” them.
And for the first time, in a long time, I started to see how trips can be “life-changing”.
When I got home, I didn’t want to return to my old systems. I stopped habit tracking. I stopped doing extensive monthly and quarterly resets. I stopped tracking progress through numbers. Because I realized:
Life isn’t meant to be a spreadsheet. It’s meant to be lived, felt, and experienced.
Europe reminded me that sometimes, the best way to grow is to live your life without documenting it, tracking it, or assigning it as a metric.
Personal Growth Now
Now, my personal growth journey feels softer and I feel more human. Again, don’t get me wrong. I still care about my goals and routines, but I no longer see them as the definition of who I am.
So, I came back from Europe with a change and found myself. I found myself outside of my habits and routines. I understand that I don’t need to measure my progress to prove that I’m growing. I just need to live it.
