A routine to make sure that you’re always LOVING yourself!
Loving myself is always a work in progress for me. There are days when I love myself A LOT and I show it through my actions. Then, there are days when I don’t feel like I love myself and unfortunately hate myself sometimes. However, I will always find myself getting back up no matter how many lows I hit.
In this blog post, I’m going to share with you a “SELF-LOVE” routine. This is a routine that will help you make sure that you love yourself to an amazing level. Even during times when you lack self-love, this routine is a great way to get things back up again.
You will learn of easy steps to help you become more self-aware of what makes you love yourself more, and what makes you love yourself a little less. They’re applicable steps and I do believe you can apply them in no time!
Is there anything you do for self-love? I would LOVE to know. Feel free to comment as I’m the only one that sees them.
Let’s dive in.
1 – Identify what gives you more self-love
One of the first ways to build your self-love is to be aware of what gives you self-love.
By knowing this, you know more of the things that you can do whenever you feel like you’re lacking self-love.
Examples include:
- Watching a motivational video.
- Listening to a podcast.
- Dressing up is super cute!
- Listening to songs about self-confidence and self-love! (no break-up songs!)
- Reading motivational quotes and posts.

2 – Identify what DOESN’T give you self-love
On the other hand, you also want to know what doesn’t give you self-love.
Whenever you feel like you lack self-love, the last thing you want to do is things that make it worse.
Examples include:
- Scrolling through social media
- Reading the news
- Stalking other people’s social media profiles (and comparing yourself to them)
- Looking at your IG Story views
By having a list of those things, you know what to stay away from whenever you don’t feel like yourself. Instead, you’ll do some of the things that you’ve identified in Part 1.
3 – Identify the feelings you have when you’re at your lowest level of self-love
When you lacked self-love, what were you doing? How did you feel?
By being aware of this, you know what to do to avoid (as much as possible).
This is going to be different for everyone. Here are some examples:
- Personal example: When I lack self-love, I notice it immediately when I find myself scrolling through social media. I feel anxious, sad, and insecure. The moment I realize it, I stop scrolling and do one of the things that help me boost it.
- When some lack self-love, they find themselves picking every negative thing about their appearance and feel insecure.

4 – Identify the feelings you have when you’re at your HIGHEST level of self-love
On the other hand, you also want to know how you feel when you have a lot of self-love. So when you do the activities, you know how you want to feel at the end of it.
For example:
- Personal example: For me, it’s an “if you know, you know feeling”. I would know immediately when I’m feeling amazing, and I have a lot of self-love. But when I feel like I lack self-love, I do some of the activities (the one identified in Step 1) to help me give that feeling.
There are a whole bunch of different self-care ideas you can do, even for less than 20 minutes! You can check out the past blog post on a Quick Guide to Self-Care Activities!
5 – Keep the list handy
Then, when you’re feeling like you’re lacking self-love, refer to this list.
You’ll know what to avoid, what makes it worse, and what doesn’t make a difference. You’ll also know what to do and what makes you feel good.

6 – Shake them up
Doing the same thing over and over again will make you feel bored and unmotivated. That’s why it’s important to try new things occasionally and find more ways to love yourself.
Remember that “Self-Love” isn’t an end goal or destination. Self-love is a work in progress and to be transparent, it will fluctuate!
But even if it fluctuates, you can still improve it every day. Continue to find ways that can get you excited about yourself!
Don’t make some of those routine mistakes when it comes to self-love!
TAKE A SMALL STEP
Everything in the blog post says for itself! Just go through this blog post, and it’ll already tell you what to do! But here’s a summary for your quick reference:
- Identify what gives you more self-love
- Identify what doesn’t give you self-love
- Identify the feelings you have when you’re at your lowest level of self-love
- Identify the feelings you have when you’re at your highest level of self-love
- Keep the list handy
- Shake them up
To Wrap Up
It’s a good idea to regularly do this “self-love” routine so you continue to be aware of what gives you more self-love and what doesn’t, how you feel when you have self-love, and when you don’t, and try new things as a result.
Remember, it’s the small steps that make a difference! If you want to learn more about taking small steps, definitely read my book Small Steps to Progression! You can download it for free in the Free Resources Library along with a ton of other free resources!
In the meantime, like what I said earlier, remember that Self-Love is always a work in progress, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself for it to be an end destination. Everyone will have their ups and downs and the most important reminder is your amazing journey.
