These were honestly life changing!
I came across the Future Self Exercise on TikTok multiple times. This is where you ask ChatGPT to write you a story of your day in a life as if you have already accomplished all your goals. Let me tell you that was life changing.
Then overtime, I discovered a few of my own ChatGPT prompts to not only help me get closer to my future self and my goals, but also improve my lifestyle in general.
This blog post will share these various ChatGPT prompts that you can use to improve your life. If you’re feeling stuck on some ideas, this is where the prompts will come in!
Let’s dive in.
1 – Future Self Exercise
As mentioned earlier, this was a lifechanging exercise!
How it works:
On ChatGPT you write down all your goals. They are mainly your long-term ones, but you can also add your short-term goals to.
Then, you write:
Tell me a story of a day in my dream life as my future self who has this all already.
Then, watch the magic happen!
This exercise is a powerful motivator! When you envision for yourself what’s possible for you, it motivates you to keep going, work hard, and not give up on your goals.
It can be tricky sometimes to picture how life would be like if you’ve already accomplished your goals. That’s why this exercise is so powerful.

2 – Ideas of Habits to Build/Break
When I tried the Future Self Exercise, I wanted to take it a step further and take action on my goals.
I already know from all the books I’ve read on habits that habits are your key. Your habits determine the direction of your life.
That’s why, you can use ChatGPT to ask what daily, weekly, and monthly habits you need to build (& break) to reach your goals.
How it works:
Do the Future Self Exercise like above, but then also add:
Tell me the daily, weekly, & monthly habits I need to reach these goals.
This is an extremely helpful tool to make sure that you are on the right track with reaching your goals, and that you’re habits reflect the progress you want to make.
3 – Create a Schedule
If you want to take it a step further, this is your magic step.
I LOVE calendar planning, and I’m always looking for new ways to improve the way I do so. ChatGPT was my bestie here.
You know what your day in a life of when you reach your goals looks like. You also know the habits you need to build. Now, we need to make time for those habits.
How it Works:
There are two main prompts I use for this:
The first one is that I ask ChatGPT how would my future self schedule all these daily, weekly, monthly habits. I also add in my what’s already in my schedule (e.g. if I have a workshop at 3pm, and church at 6pm, etc) so ChatGPT can work around those times.
The second one is simply asking ChatGPT to create a schedule for you by including all your commitments, tasks, and events, as well as the habits you want to build.
I prefer the first one because it adds more of that future self element to motivate you.
This is such a great way to calendar plan since it also includes some sort of motivation as well.

4 – Next Steps
Yes, you can even take the Future Self Exercise a step further!
If you have already been making moves and progress with your goals, but you’re stuck on what to do next, you can literally tell ChatGPT your entire situation, and ask what the next moves should be.
How it Works
These are my favorite prompts to use when I’m stuck on my next steps:
- Outputs to increase: For example, as a content creator, what do I need to produce more of it I want to improve? The answer ChatGPT gave me is to produce more written, social media, and video content.
- Next 5 moves: You can even ask if they can be in microsteps.
- Key Skills to Master: You can reflect on your current skills and if it needs any work, and you can ask ChatGPT if there are other key skills that a person who have already accomplished this goal would have/
This is a helpful way to figure out what you should focus more on when it comes to your goals. You can even do this exercise if you’re just starting as well! It can be implemented into your Goal Setting Routine.
5 – Breaking Down Tasks to feel less overwhelmed
Throughout law school, I went through my fair share of long assessments and tasks that were so dreadful to start.
If you ever experienced feeling overwhelmed with how long a task would take or how big a task is, this is your best friend.
How it Works
Ask ChatGPT to break down your big assessment/task into microsteps so you feel less overwhelmed.
Here’s the best part: you can keep asking ChatGPT to break it down even more, as many times as you want.
Typically, I would only tell ChatGPT to break down my tasks once. But when I’m really not feeling it, I’d ask it to break it down even further.
The hardest part with a big task most of time is starting. That’s why microsteps are your best friends when building that momentum.

6 – Make a Difficult Situation Fun
I recently read this book called High Performance Habits where I read a lifechanging story:
There was a family whose heater broke down in the house. To make it fun for their children, the parents put tents in the living room and the kids “camped out”. Although the heater was broken, because they were pretending to be out “camping”, the kids still enjoyed themselves. They even showed off to their friends that they went camping in the living room.
This is an amazing example of how you can make a difficult situation fun… and you can ask ChatGPT to do it.
How it works
Ask ChatGPT: I’m currently going through/this ____ is really hard right now, how can I make this difficult situation fun? (to specify, I like to add the camping example so ChatGPT knows what kind of answer I’m looking for).
We inevitably go through challenges in our lives, and whether we like it or not, it’s so much easier to go through it when there’s some sort of fun element to it. If you can’t think of anything to help make your difficult situation fun, that’s where ChatGPT can help.
7 – Ask for feedback on how your day went
For a whole month, I did strict time tracking. Then, I added this into ChatGPT and asked if they can give feedback on my day, based on my long-term goals, future self, and my values.
ChatGPT gave me helpful feedback on what went well, and what could use improvement.
If you want full-on feedback on if you’re actually using your time wisely, track your time for the day, put it into ChatGPT and ask them if it aligns with your goals and future self.
Then, whatever feedback you get, you can implement to keep getting better.
8 – Your Ultimate Motivator
I certainly have days where it didn’t go as planned, I procrastinated a bit or spent too much time on social media instead of working on my goals. It’s so easy for me to get into that negative self-talk spiral.
Sometimes, when I do the time tracking like above, I even add onto ChatGPT that I’m disappointed in myself that it didn’t go as planned, or that I spent too much time on social media.
Then ChatGPT gave me really motivating words and encouragement to help me see the progress I made, instead of just focusing on the slip-ups. It even reminds me sometimes that my future self will experience those kinds of moments too, and tells me how my future self will handle a slip-up like this.
If you really want to play around with it even more, you can tell ChatGPT any situation/challenge you’re going through, and ask to reframe it with this: Think of it this way.
That’s another great way to change your perspective!

Have a go at trying one of these prompts!
To Wrap Up
Hopefully, these 8 ways you can use ChatGPT can help improve your lifestyle, especially when it comes to working towards your goals and future self!
I actually have a free Goal Setting Workbook in the Free Resources Library which you can check out! It’s a great resource to help you set you up for success with your goals.
