Because I cannot believe that this blog has reached 200 blog posts.
This is to the girl behind the blog (aka me).
I just realized that I never properly shared my blogging journey, and how I ended up here in the first place. So, I thought my 200th blog post would be a perfect opportunity to share that story.
And, I also wrote a little letter to myself as I continue to progress forward with this blog. 😊
When I first launched this blog in 2020, I wasn’t new to the blogging world. I had two blogs before this one.
iSuperLauren – the blog by 9-year-old Lauren
The first blog I started when I was 9 years old. When I started, I didn’t even know what a blog was. I created a blog because I wanted my website like iCarly. That was my favorite show as a kid and still is (I’m still upset that they canceled the revival on a cliffhanger, and canceled my Paramount Plus subscription because of it). On iCarly, they posted many crazy, fun, and cool things on the show, so I wanted to do the same for my “website”. The website just happened to be on a blogging platform and that’s when I learned what blogging meant.
In terms of what I named this blog, I named it iSuperLauren. I’m cringing too, but I was nine, okay? You see, in the show iCarly, they named it I for “internet” and Carly for her name. With me, I did the same. Nine-year-old me just thought it would be cool to add Super in front of my name.
I blogged about random things that happened in my life, including when our family moved to Canada. I posted on it for a bit, then I got bored. It was similar to a child getting super excited about a toy, only to get bored weeks or even months after playing with it. This was what the iSuperLauren blog was like.

Lauren(not going to reveal the rest of the blog name, because I don’t want to risk people finding it. This blog was way more cringe than the first one) – the blog by 12-year-old Lauren
3 years later I created another blog. The reason why I didn’t just continue the blog I created when I was 9, was because I forgot the password LOL.
I was starting to get into DIY craft videos and started doing them for fun. Then, I decided it would be a good idea to include this in my newly launched blog.
I also added my game progress in the Kim Kardashian Game (I shamelessly played this game for another 5 years on and off). At the same time, I was obsessed with a spelling game, so I included my progress on that on the website.
With this blog, I was pretty consistent with it. Then, I got bored and then abandoned it. When I revisited this blog years later, a lot of the things I posted were cringe. I didn’t like my haircut, and the grammar… oh my. No one needs to see this.
LaurenBarri – the blog that 19-year-old Lauren started, and FINALLY stuck with
Flash forward to about 7 years later when I finally launched my third blog. This time, I had an actual .com domain with no .blogspot or .weebly on it.
Initially, this blog was only going to be private. Yes, I know it doesn’t make sense why I would get a .com domain if I was going to make the website public. But that’s how I felt at the time.
The blog was mainly my travel blog. At that time of my life, I had gone on trips to the USA and Vanuatu and blogged them. However, when I was contemplating whether I should make the blog public, I wasn’t sure what new blogs or content I’d be putting out.
For instance, 2020 was the year of COVID and that’s when no one was travelling. I wasn’t doing any travelling anytime soon so I wasn’t going to be posting travel content.
But, in 2020, that’s when I started getting into self-improvement and personal development. This was around the time I was reading countless books, listening to podcasts, and watching YouTube videos on self-growth. I was already making notes as I learned, so why not turn them into a blog post?
And that’s exactly what happened
Then boom, I finally found what I wanted the blog to be. This blog became my outlet for sharing the things I learned in my self-growth journey.
As I continued to learn, grow, and evolve, so did my blog. Over time, I added new content topics (related to self-improvement) and my blog became a little self-growth content platform. I let myself pivot my blog when it felt right too, especially when I wanted to share a little more about my personal life (e.g. law student life, travels), but still making the blog predominantly on self-improvement.
Recently, I’ve decided to add some more travel content especially as I have done quite a bit of travelling since traveling started again post-covid. I’ve wanted to share my travel diaries from my travels in 2022-23, so I’ll be posting those up very soon. Also, I’m planning to share more of my life as I continue to progress in my career and other aspirations, so this blog will be a little bit of a digital diary (however, this is still tentative as I’m still contemplating this).
Sometimes I get some free time to read some of my previous blog posts and see how far I have come, in terms of writing style and content. One thing that I’ve still kept the same is to ensure that every blog post adds value in some way.
Little Letter to the Girl Behind the Blog
Dear Me,
I know this isn’t a blogging anniversary, but 200 blog posts is a huge milestone. I’m proud of you for not getting easily bored like when you were 9 & 12 years old, and staying consistent with the blog for the past 3 and a half years.
You still posted on this blog, even during the busiest periods of your life. You posted on this blog throughout university, when you were balancing studies with other jobs, and when you were dealing with various life stuff along the way.
You didn’t abandon this blog even when you felt that people were judging you and this blog. You kept doing what you enjoyed doing (blogging) anyway because you knew that people could never take that away from you.
I’m excited to see where this blog will go, and what else you’ll end up writing about.
Keep being you.
-Lauren 😊
