Because we all have those days at one point…
I decided to write this blog post because I had gone through a bit of a funk lately. I felt like everything I was doing was pointless, I wasn’t any closer to my goals or what I wanted, and I just didn’t feel like my best self.
Then, one Friday I decided that I was going to have a day to myself and get out of a funk. I did a bunch of self-care tasks and acts of service that made me feel 100% better. It was then I decided that I had officially created the “Getting Out of a Funk” Routine. These are the things that have helped me get out of a funk, and I wanted to share them with you.
This blog post is all about the tasks you can do to get out of a funk because we all have those days at one point. You will learn how they can help you get out of a funk, and how you can do them to make yourself feel better.
If you are someone who finds themselves in these kinds of funks every now and then, this blog post is for you! It is always good to have a go-to plan on what to do whenever you go through a funk.
Let’s get into this.
1 – Treating Yourself
One of the first easy ways to get out of a funk is by treating yourself. These can include getting yourself your favorite meal, buying yourself a gift, or pampering yourself. It is all personalized to you.
Treating yourself is a great way to help you get out of a funk because it gives you a little mood boost. The more mood boosters, the better you begin to feel.

2 – Take Yourself Out on a Solo Date
Solo dates are where you spend time in your own company. Solo dates can range from many activities from taking yourself out for coffee to going for a walk. The best part about solo dates is that you get to decide what activity you want to do.
Going on solo dates is another way to get out of a funk because it’s a way to help you be alone with your own thoughts. When you’re with your own thoughts, you get to reflect more. When you reflect more, you continue to improve more.
3 – Cleaning Your Car
If you drive your own car, you probably understand how a messy car isn’t the best feeling. Even though this task is only about cleaning up a mess, the transformation from a dirty/cluttered space to a clean space transforms your mental state as well.
For example, if you have a dirty and messy car, it can be stressful to think about. On the other hand, if you have a clean car with a fresh environment, it gives you more of a positive impact.

4 – New phone case & screen protector
Even though it may seem like a small task, small things make a difference. The reason why this can help you get out of a funk is because a new screen protector and a new case can make you feel like you have a new phone.
If your screen protector is cracked or your phone case is falling apart, it doesn’t feel too functional. However, the small change of having a new screen protector and case can help you feel like you have a new phone. When you feel like you have a new phone, it feels like you have a fresh start.
5 – Rearranging your apps on your phone (and deleting the ones you don’t use)
For most of us, we are probably using our phones regularly. Since we’re using them regularly, you might as well set them up in a way that you be more productive.
And, if you are in a funk, rearranging and deleting apps on your phone is a great way to improve your mental space.
So, all you need to do is rearrange your apps, delete the ones you don’t use, and curate your apps in a way that feels more productive and you aren’t as distracted as much. That’s why, if you aren’t able to get a new screen protector or phone case, the next best thing is just working on the inside of the phone.

6 – Cleaning Your House or Room
The most common way to get out of a funk is cleaning. It is not surprising that cleaning and decluttering your spaces can make you feel so much better. One of the ways to organize your life is to start off by cleaning up the spaces you regularly use, such as your bedroom or desk.
When you tidy up your regular spaces, you create a more organized and visually appealing environment, and of course that boosts your mood. That’s why, cleaning is an extremely helpful task to add to your “Getting Out of A Funk” routine.
7 – Pamper Yourself
Pampering yourself includes activities that make you feel better hygienically and physically. Examples of activities where you can pamper yourself include taking a shower/relaxing bath or doing your skincare routine.
Doing this self-care act is a great way to get yourself out of a funk. Whenever you do little things to pamper yourself, you begin to feel better physically. When you feel better physically, it also transforms mentally as well.
And when you feel good on the outside, you feel good on the inside.

8 – Little Makeover
Now, we are not talking about having an unrecognizable makeover. Instead, we are talking about the little things you can do that can shift your self-confidence and your level of self-love.
This can be from a different hairstyle, getting your nails done, or changing up your style. It can be super budget-friendly, and you don’t have to worry about spending lots of money on a makeover.
Having a little makeover can give you that feeling of change, and make you feel better. Again, when you feel good on the outside, you feel good on the inside. These are just the little easy ways to boost your self-love!
9 – Go for a Walk (or get moving)
Going for a walk is not just about getting your exercise in, it’s also about getting fresh air, and clearing your head, while also getting some physical activity.
Sometimes, when we’re stuck in a funk, it’s easy to get in our own head. Going for walks allows us to change our scenery, have more mindful moments, and give yourself a good recharge.
As this is great for both your physical and mental health, this is a helpful task to get out of a funk.

10 – Self-Care Time
Self-care time is all about having moments to yourself, so you can nourish your mental, emotional, and physical health. How you do self-care is all personalized to you, as long as you feel refreshed and recharged… especially when you’re in a funk.
It is also a way to help you have more “mood boost” feelings. Even if they are just small mood boosters, they can still make a difference to how you feel, and how you get out of a funk.
So, whenever you feel like you are in a funk, use the time to take care of yourself, and practice some self-care. Do a self-care activity that you are satisfied with and motivates you.
